The want of a book of Sindhi Idioms rendered into English has long been felt and was prominently brought to my notice by some highly-placed officers, to whom, I have had the pleasure of teaching the Sindhi Language. The present compilation is offered in the absence of any other adequate work of the kind and is meant to supply an immediate want. It contains no less than 3000 Sindhi idioms and it must be owned that it is by no means as exhaustive and comprehensive as might be desired. Idioms that are not fairly common have been omitted. I owe a deep debt of gratitude to Principal H. I. Robertson, A. C. P. (London), F. R. G. S., and Mr. A. B. Advani, M. A., LL. B., S. T. C. for the invaluable and ungrudging help they have given me in the preparation of this book.
