PUBLISHER NOTE The marvel and masterpiece, the book titled “Mysticism in the Early Nineteenth Century Poetry of England” is actually a thesis of Ph.D. by Prof. Dr. Hotchand Moolchand Gurbaxani. The degree was awarded to him by the University of London, in June, 1928. Prof. Gurbaxani was an extraordinary and eminent scholar, educationist, secular, and linguist. He belonged to Hyderabad Sindh, now Pakistan. As far as his literary achievements are concerned, he brought a historical romantic novel ’Noor Jahan‘ to Sindhi in 1915. However, his magnum opus was a critical edition of a Sindhi classic ‘Shah-Jo-Risalo’. It had a masterly introduction, notes and commentary comprised in three volumes. First volume was published in 1923. Whereas, the second and third ones were published in 1925 and 1927 respectively. This work established him as a philologist and linguist as he traced the origin of each word in Shah-Jo-Risalo to its origin by approved philological process. Besides that, he was acknowledged as a unique scholar of Sindhi Language and literature. Without an iota of doubt, he emerged as one of the great, idiosyncratic talents of the 20th century. Although his book was published in 1984 from Pune India, but unfortunately not a single copy was available in Pakistan. After a long struggle, we have found a copy of his book. The credit for literally exhuming this chef d'oeuvre, unanimously, goes to Sindhi Language Authority which is publishing his book for the first time in the history of Pakistan after about a century. This book will nudge the youth toward a mystic approach of a different genre and a philosophy of an unalike style. This book is spread over on five chapters. In the first chapter, the writer has narrated in detail the ‘Mystical Basis’. He has highlighted various aspects of ‘Mystical Basis’. In the second chapter, Prof. Dr. Hotchand Moolchand Gurbaxani;has examined the Mystical approach of the poet William Blake. Similarly, in third chapter the writer has threw light on the Mystical poetry of the renowned poet William Wordsworth. In the fourth chapter, Mystical poetry of Samuel Taylor Coleridge has been mentioned. Whereas, in the last and fifth chapter of the book, Prof. Dr. Hotchand Moolchand Gurbaxani has elaborated the Mystical poetry of Percy Bysshe Shelley. This book doesn’t deserve reading! It deserves deep and detailed study by soaking one’s soul in the bliss and ecstasy that every concept of this classic conveys and contributes. Hope you’ll enjoy and appreciate the eternal amusement afforded by this book. In last we are grateful to Mr Mukhtiar Ahmad Mallah for providing the photo state copy of previous edition of the book. Our thanks to Dr.Anwar Figar Hakro who provides the missing pages of the book and, also thanks to Dr. Mahmood Mughal for proofing the composed matter of the book.
